I was browsing randomly and I found a 3DLabs Wildcat VP990 Pro 512mb DDR AGP video card for like 535 bucks at eWiz.com. The price and the memory of the card seem competitive, how does it work? Anyone ever use 3DLabs video cards?
I bet it would support OpenGl great, but good luck getting it to run much for DirectX. That's a CAD card. Gaming support is going to be totally and completely non-existent.
3DLabs gave up on gaming with the Permedia 3 beack when video cards were still using the PCI bus.
Ouch.
Not really a surprise, as CAD cards are going to be focusing on vertices rather than fill rates, but it seems like good CAD cards do not make good gaming cards.
