Why is the 3Dfx stock up 33 cents over the last month? Better question, why does 3Dfx stock still exist? See for yourself here. I was reading the wiki on 3Dfx (because I'm bored and miss the company) and noticed the stock was still available. Should I buy buy buy!?
 
That's weird. Personally I would not put any money into the company or what ever it is now.

3Dfx Interactive, Inc. developed high performance, cost-effective graphics chips, graphics boards, software and related technology that enabled an interactive and realistic 3-D experience across multiple hardware platforms. The Company is in the process of winding up its business. In March 2001, shareholders approved proposals to liquidate, wind up and dissolve 3Dfx pursuant to a plan of dissolution and to sell certain of its assets to Nvidia US Investment Company. On March 30, 2001, 3Dfx filed a certificate of election to liquidate, wind up and dissolve with the California Secretary of State's office. 3Dfx is proceeding to wind up its affairs and is no longer operating or generating revenues in the normal course of business. On April 18, 2001 substantially all of 3Dfx's assets were sold to Nvidia Sub. In October 2002, the Company filed a petition with the United States Bankruptcy Court for the Northern District of California under Chapter 11 of the United States Bankruptcy Code.

Someone is probably just using the old 3dfx ticker, I wouldn't get too excited about it.

The commercials weren't around for long. I believe they were part of the excess spending that eventually played a part in the quick downward spiral of 3Dfx. But I do remember them airing during football games if nothing else (trying to catch the gaming crowd I guess)
 
It makes me wonder where the industry would be if they were still around. They invented so many things. One thing 3Dfx definitely had was style.
