Well if the company is really composed of ex-3dfx employees, that product won't make the scheduled June 10th launch date ;)

But, I guess we'll find out in a few days, eh?

If that is true, there is no doubt at all what i will buy. I am still clinging on to a V3 3000, but its becoming abit boring since i am missing out on so much eyecandy in the newer games. It runs all the games smooth, but i know that Giants or B&W with a GF3 is a completely different story than with a V3.

Go voodoo!

hmmm, let's wait and see.
i don't believe that a company founded overnight and in secrecy and with a product nobody knows and not tested will be able to compete with ATI, NVIDIA and STMICRO just like that. even if the card would be doing fine, at the time word's arround, they're already out of money and closed.
and what about working drivers, support and rma-service.
i'm really sceptical.

KyroII has entered the market, and is getting Nnvidia scared as hell.
Maybe keeping things secret will catch Nvidia by surprise so that they cant
prepare anti-3dfx propaganda regarding the new chip as they did with the Kyro and that anti-Kyro document we saw a while back.

First:

These guys can't even speak english:
"No word on Graphzilla's reaction yet, as they employee a large number of ex 3dfx employees themselves."

Second:

"The new card, sold under the 3DPower brand name, will be based heavily on 3dfx's previous Rampage graphics chipset. "
Don't you think this would lead nVidia to sue their butts off for patent infringment, since nVidia now owns all of 3dfx's patents?

Third:

The guys from 3dfx were always very much into the name game and putting down the GeForce etc.... I think they'd come up with something better then "3DPower" :p

nvidia didn't buy the current product line of 3dfx, just future concept designs... rampage was in development so it didn't get bought..

Hmmm I'm not sure about that, I may have to do some digging. However, you just contradicted yourself. I agree nVidia didn't buy the current "Current product line" (the VSA100), but if Rampage was in development then it would qualify as a "future concept design" since it wasn't a current/finalized product.

actualy no I didn't, all the future designs nvidia bought never were built yet, even tested, they just existsed on paper.

Rampage was in development and in silicon form.

I read this all in an interview with the x-media relations guy for 3dfx right after the buyout. the only reason you don't see nvidia voodoo5 and rampage cards now is becuase 3dfx didn't put them up for sale..

Linkified: 3dpower.com

Yep it's up and they have information about buying "Absolute Multimedia" and they have nVidia links and news posts about nVidia based products all over the site. And under the products menu of the site you see about 4 nVidia based products.

Quote "Company News" Page
"3DPower is an nVIDIA Certified Select Solution Partner offering leading edge Graphics technology solutions for both Consumer and Business OEM Customers."

Seems like someone got their news wrong.

Oh and the company has been around since Feb 2000 (ie: Before the nVidia/3dfx merger).

I've emailed Mike Magee with the correction (typo) in his article, he's going to fix it (he replied). And have further email both him and Mr.Tweak (from tweaktown) the information I found. We'll see what they have to say.

Even if it is just an nVidia spinoff run by ex-3dfx employees, I'd still like to see what the Rampage can do. :)

Heard back from Mike Magee the author of the article at the original link. He says he's removing the story.

Edit:
Think link is still valid but the headline no longer appears on their main page.

nVidia did get Rampage IP as well as Gigapixel Technology.

Like I have said before, some websites will stoop to anything to try and get hits

Update
We've had an email from Scott Sellers this afternoon, and he says that there may be a new company of this name, but the rumours are just rumours, and he is personally nothing to do with it. Thanks Scott. MM. 17.40 BST
