3d vision support

Hey everybody,
I've got a quick question regarding 3d that I'm hoping you guys can shed some light on.

Right now 3d tv's are too expensive for me to afford, but 3d lcd monitors (designed for nvidia) are very cheap. My main use for 3d right now would be iracing and considering I already have a 3d nvidia card all I would need is a 3d monitor and nvidia vision glasses. All of this if fine and I'm confident I can get a good setup for around $600 in my racing simulator.

HOWEVER, I want to be able to play gran turismo 5 in 3d (when the ps3 firmware update comes out) and am pretty sure I am SOL with my current plan. I know the ps3 will probably require a 3d reciever and then a 3d tv that uses its own 3d glasses (samsung/panasonic ect.)

Is there any way I can overcome the hurdle of having to buy two different 3d setups to play iracing and gt5 in my simulator?

btw here is my racing simulator as it sits... it actually made my recent visits to laguna seca much more productive and I'm hoping 3d will help me with my braking zones.

Until Sony pushes out the 3D update for the PS3, I don't think it's possible to answer this question. They still haven't fully explained how the PS3 is going to drive 3D, since under normal circumstances you need HDMI 1.4 to get enough bandwidth for 3D 1080P, but the PS3 only supports HDMI 1.3.

Difference between hdmi 1.3 and 1.4 is audio return, embedded internet. Bandwidth should be fine if its not pushing that extra data.

Well shit... maybe I will just wait until the firmware update to make my decision. Come ooonnnn delayed gratification. Thank you guys I appreciate the advice.

Right now this is a big mess. Nvidia's glasses are only compatible with their software. Meaning the won't work with 3D TVs that are coming to market.

I'm personally waiting to see if I can just use a 3D TV connected to my PC to play games in 3D that way. I know ATI allows 3rd party software hooks for companies like iz3d and tridef.

They work with 3D DLP TVs. But I don't know if 3D LCDs have the same feature connector available on them.
