3D vision and GTX 460 SLI, 768 or 1GB ?

Hey,

I was thinking of getting 2 X GTX 460 768MB.

I've seen many benchmarks, yet not many 3d vision ones.

My question is : Will I see a noticeable gain by using 2 X GTX 460 1GB instead of 768MB running 3D Vision on 1920x1080?

and also, I will have to add 70$ to get 2X 1GB, so is it worth it?

Get the 1gb, 2gb is not worth it.

768mb in sli is too much power and not enough memory.
2gb is too much memory for 1900x1080 even with 3d.
edit: 1gb is just right. 🙂

Welcome to the forums.

are you drunk? 😛 he is asking about 768mb or 1gb models.

OP definitely go 1gb with sli setup. 768mb is not enough for you to run settings that a gtx460 sli setup is capable of.

and I hope the rest of your pc including psu is pretty good.

hahhahah, man must be tired , thanks

In any case yea get the 1gb cards. 🙂

k, I guess I'll go with 1gb then ... (70$ :'()

I will either get them along with an X-650 or 750, it should be sufficient anyway.

I'm thinking of running a surround nvision setup using 3 cheap led projectors in a darkened area.

At what point will the 768mb card restrict performance?
Do you, or anyone, think the low res modes of these projectors will not be supported by games?
Someone on this site told me that games will automatically detect your output device and offer the available modes, even 800x600 or around that. Is that true?

This will be a budget surround game system. total res will be around 1680x1050.

do you get the benefit of both card's memory in sli? i remember back in the early days of sli you only got 1GB out of 2x 1GB cards. i generally go for the single card, dual GPU solutions, so i'm a bit ignorant.

No, each card has to hold the complete buffer, so it can render any frame and not be restricted to only a portion.
