3D technology / hardware / games

Question about where 3D technology stands currently. Now that large monitors are fairly affordable, it seems that 3D gaming / applications would start to become more common.

So...

Which (if any) video cards are 3D capable?
What other hardware is necessary (special glasses, special monitor, etc.)?
What games take advantage of 3D formats?

I am starting to research video cards and I don't want to end up with a fancy door stop.

Which (if any) video cards are 3D capable?
From AMD its:
http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-hd3d/pages/supported-hardware.aspx

I think its starts with the 5xxx series and then every card after.

What other hardware is necessary (special glasses, special monitor, etc.)?
http://www.amd.com/us/products/technologies/amd-hd3d/pages/supported-hardware.aspx

Same page, it shows 3D moniters, 3D TVs, and Projectors, that are supported (though I suspect there are more).

It also shows which Shutterglasses are supported for which vendors TV/Monitor/projector.

This How-To page makes it easy:

What games take advantage of 3D formats?
Here is iZ3D's list: (not sure if uptodate)

Not sure how many iZ3D supports,

Here is DDD's list (tridef): (not sure if uptodate)

Total number of International games = 468

Looks like the current video cards are capable - and have been for a while, as well as a large amount of supported games.

And a standard monitor won't work - you need one that is designed for 3D. And then of course, the glasses.

Thanks for the info - that answers all my questions!
