3D projector advice

I currently have a Panasonic AX200U 720P projector. http://www.amazon.com/Panasonic-PT-A.../dp/B000WZO9ZU I use it to watch movies once in a while, and the bulb has most of its life left in it.

My friend who saw it wants to buy it, so i considered if the price was right. Well we checked around and the price seems to be the same now as it was 2 years ago when i bought it- >1000 dollars. (even more actually since i got it on sale)

I remember seeing a brand new 3D projector for around 500 bucks that seemed really awesome, and found it on newegg: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16824009223

now it doesnt really make sense to me why my old one is still so expensive. Is there something so much better about my non-3D projector that the new ones are lacking? Or is that price just old and hasnt been updated?

If he agreed id sell this for ~500 and then just buy the 3D projector. But am i screwing him then? I did tell him about the 3D one, but hes still skeptical, and knows what hes getting with mine.

1280x720 on both units. Why bother "upgrading" 1280x720

the Acer is brighter and has longer bulb life. Plus it can do 3D, not that thats the deciding factor here. But if hes willing to pay 500 for my old one, why not sell it and just get one thats a little better?

but im mostly wondering why my old one is still so expensive? Would i even be "upgrading" since the one im buying is cheaper?

I would want to see it in action before I would do anything. Acer has hardly been known for being top of the line. I did see that you would be going from 2000 to 2500 but your Panasonic has a 6,000:1 Contrast Ratio vs the Acer 3200:1

I'm guessing that there would be a pretty substantial downgrade in image quality with that Acer. It's also quite likely that your current projector is overpriced at $1100 though.

Well taking into account what can be bought now for that same price, do you think its fair to sell it to him for a price based off of the original price of 1000-1100? Or should i assume that if one were to buy the ax200u new, they would probably pay around 500, so i should sell it for like 300?

I mean, even if i take the money and decide to just get a 1080p projector since those have dropped to less than 1000, is my price to him fair? Or is the AX200u really worth that much? (AX200u $1000, Acer 3D monitor $500)

That projector is still fetching $1200 new on ebay and $500 used so that has to say something for image quality and where you should be with your price for selling it. Just do some homework on anything you might want to buy. Look at reviews and specs.
