3D printer technology already exist to make printable metal parts. You're way behind the times thinking 3d printing only produces resin parts.

I might be interested in a printed AA12 or StreetSweeper fully auto shotgun.

But... even tho printable metal parts are available ... I'd probably rather pay 1500 - 2K for gun that is quality durable metal rather than some chinese printed gun. Tho, I suppose if they were 500-700 bucks that might be worthwhile seeing how a aa 12 isn't available for civilian sales. Tho getting the blueprints to print one might be challenging.

How is this different then using machinery to build the rifle yourself? Just because it requires less machining skill?

I'm confused.

These printed guns are just toys and will always remain so.

Of course. We all know technology will stand still, there will be no advancements in materials or designs, and 3d printing will stay exactly the way it is today.

Or, if you're not terminally stupid, you can realize that the technology is just now starting to emerge and there will surely be huge improvements over time, allowing it to be used for all sorts of things, good and bad.

It really isn't much different, other than it's going to give everyone the ability to do it instead of just those with specific knowledge and machining equipment. The gun grabbers are just SOL on this one, nothing they can do will get the genie back in the bottle, the technology will advance and eventually 3d printers will be used to make all sorts of things, good and bad. Perhaps then the idiots can stop trying to get weapons out of the hands of law abiding citizens and focus on dealing with the real issues.
