3D movie playback hardware requirements

is Intel InTru 3D necessary?

1) for integrated GPU ? (Intel HD iGPU)
2) for discrete GPU ? (GTX 580 or GTX 560ti)

That is simply the name of Intel's 3D solution. AMD and Nvidia have their own little marketing names for the same thing.

Real answer is what series you need for each item:

-Nvidia: GT 430 or better
-AMD : 7750 or better
-Intel: Ivy GPU or better

Won't a 6450 handle it just fine?

Yes but a 7750 is such a better card that I recommend it instead. You never know, you might need to play something that is 1080i and then that 6450 is screwed for doing any decent deinterlacing. Sandy Bridge Intel GPUs can also technically play 3D, but I avoid recommending them because the drivers are crap. With Ivy Intel, the GT 430 or the 7750 I can recommend them as a HTPC card and know it can handle anything anyone wants to throw at it short of 4K, MadVR and gaming.

thanks.
that what I thought too.
just wanted to make sure.

small correction. for intel gpu. sandy GPU or better. must also be a core processor.

Technically yes, but I would never count on a Sandy GPU in a HTPC. Ivy was the first Intel GPU generation worth considering for HTPC use.
