3D Monitors.. Is it really worth it? Should I bother?

I am trying to decide if I should get one, and I need some feedback.

Basically, what I need to know is:

1)If it's really worth it. Do games in 3D really look MUCH BETTER with a 3D Monitor and Glasses? Is there really a BIG, NOTICEABLE difference? Are there any videos online that show this difference?

2)Will a PC 3D monitor work with console games that support 3D?

3)Will it work with 3D Blu-Ray movies, and will I need any additional equipment for that? Is there yet ANOTHER pair of 3D glasses that needs to be purchased specifically for blu-rays?

4)Is there really a truly noticeable difference with 2D also? Examples?

5)Is the whole process more demanding on a video card? Any drop in FPS?

6)Health Risks/Effects? Does playing on a 3D monitor give any of you guys a headache? Is 120Hz any more tiring on the eyes than 60Hz? I use my computer A LOT and I want to make sure these monitors don't have any bad health effects as opposed to 60Hz LCDs.

7)Any near future improvements that will make these new monitors completely obsolete like monitors that will display 3D WITHOUT glasses?

Thanks very much.

1. I think it is worth it. It is very noticeable. No videos would show it on a 2d monitor.
2. I don't play consoles.
3. No additional equipment needed with nvidia's kit. You will need to purchase the powerdvd software that supports nvidia 3d. It's like $80 and it looks great on 3d blu ray.
4. 2d is improved since your screen is now able to show up to 120fps.
5. Framerates are cut in half since the card is making two images instead of one.
6. Get headaches occasionally. Some people it doesn't affect at all.
7. Nothing like that in the forseeable future. Make sure to get the newest version of monitors. Lightboost or something like that.

I'll also add that I will never go back to a 60hz monitor regardless of whether or not I use 3D.

There were several glasses free 3d tv's on display at CES 2012. I don't imagine they will be affordable to the average consume for quite some time.

3d/Display tech is going to rapidly improving over the next few years. The introduction of 4k resolutions and glasses free 3d should start relatively soon. Don't expect prices to be affordable for the next few years or more.

i recently got one. i also got the nvidia 3d tvplay so i can use it for PC. i wanted to use tv glasses so i can view other things like PS3. i don't recommend nvidia's glasses for that very reason. 3dtv play works the same when using tv's glasses. its only $40, glasses are $70. so its not bad. i played a few games like MW3,Alice,Skyrim,Shift2 in 3d.

with nvidia's stereo player, you can watch 2d movies in 3d (pr0n). or get a 2d to 3d converter which is kinda tricky, not all movies work for some reason. i also downloaded some Imax 3d movies. never any headaches.

I have the 3d vision 2 glasses and a Lightboost monitor. On a game that has good support for 3d, as in the developers spent time making it work properly, it's really cool. Some games there is a lot of problems and it's not worth running in 3d. Basically any game rated "3d vision ready" by nvidia is going to be good. A lot of the "excellent" rated ones are good too with some minor issues.

I love to crank the depth and convergence though. Things come right out of the screen and the depth into the screen can be very impressive. Some people may get headaches from 3d, and also about 10% of the population is stereo blind and doesn't even see it properly. I'm sure to a stereo blind person they'd be wondering what the hell the hype is all about.

In the end the thing I like most about going 3d is having a 120hz monitor. Performance will take a nosedive since it has to render a different image for each eye, so don't bother without a high end card or SLI.

I just recently purchased the 3d Planar SA2311w for its 120hz 2d. Viewing angles on this TN monitor is a non issue for me. Yes the colors are nowhere as vibrant as IPS but has realistic look to it and I'm happy just to have the 120hz especially when I upgrade to IVY bridge and a new video card in a few more months. The stand on this monitor is also very nice to work with.
