3D Max Corrupt cab. file

I was given 3D Max and when trying to install it I get a cab. file error

Cannot find 3dsmax\3dsmaxSetup6.cab

I can't take it back since it was given to me and it was won in a contest.

Is there a way to find a replacement file or can I uses someone elses. I don't know much about that stuff.

Any help would be appreciated!

Did you get an actual CD? Maybe the CD is scratched or dirty. Clean off the disc or try it in a different drive.
 
well, one trick you can try is first copying the files to a dir on ur hard drive, thne installing...
sometimes u just get a crc error when the installer routine is reading from the cdrom

not all that likely of a method to work, but it only takes 5 mins to try...
 
If you won a real license you should be able to contact Kinetix (or whoever owns 3DSMax now) and get a replacement CD.
