See my sig. I have all you suckas beat.[/quote]
lol wait a sec.... is that for real? thats so funny. a 4? just 4? ROFL

I'm kinda suprised though, your rig is outdated but I would have thought a p2 with a 4mb savage would score a 4, not yours. :p

what a riot... I'm glad to see you have a good sense of humour about it. If I had an extra video card I'd give it to you but my only spare not in use right now is a 9700 non pro. Can't give that away ;)

4 lol

btw my rig got like 5500 or so I think while I was just doing a burn-in on the new rig (see sig and The MONEY PIT!). I haven't tested it out yet with everything running correct now. I personally don't care a whole lot about 3Dmark scores. I know my 3D and video/DVD apps work great, screen quality is great, and games get rediculous FPS on max settings.

don't get me wrong I was not trying to brag or anything. I bought 2 dells recently with the R9700 and R9800 upgrades. I resold both to friends with 8500's I bought from newegg for $65 shipped. Which was more then enough video card for their needs. I actually bought 3 dells but kept one with another R9700 TX in there. That machine does a little serving and 2nd rendering machine.

The 9800 non pro went into my current big rig and there is one more R9700 TX card left doing nothing. I was going to sell it for fairly cheap, like $150. Its only been used for like 8 total hours and only for benchmark tests.

so as you see I am by no means a rich man with expensive "junk" laying around. :)

I think im having software issues with 2003 3dmarks. My 9800 score is as same as my old ti4200 score. That can't be right...

The score was around 2000+.

make sure you disable AA
that score would be about right with 4x or more AA on.

Check the references of scores. Most are 1024x768 resolution, and lots of goodies off especially FSAA which will kill your fps.

Now if you are getting those scores with AA disabled, then there is certainly a problem. I'd check to see if your hardware settings are correct and if the driver is functioning properly under the catalyst drivers and not some windows defaults.

It was tough to get the score that low. I underclocked the card so much it started crashing :)

Update - now down to 2 3D marks. That's a 50% improvement!!!

Thanks guys I see that even with the 3Dmark2003 Patch that is spoused to hurt the score of the FX 5900 card and with the poor performing first release drivers the FX 5900 Over Clocked is faster then 9800 Pro ? mind you it was a hard choice what card to get to finish off my system they both cost the same but the fact the the FX 5900 Card got twice the FPS in Beta DOOM 3 benchmarks was enough to make me think it will own in future games
And for anyone who?s played Homeworld you will know even the most powerful system on earth will slow down on that game due to the fact that theres no unit capping.

For those of you looking for a videocard check out this thing !! ? the Cooling system for the first time actually is COOL !!!!

Albatron Geforce FX 5900 Card Pic's of the beast ! ... Why cant all cards look this cool !

videoclone: actually, the 3Dmark2003 patch does NOT hurt the performance. Futuremark and Nvidia made nice and Nvidia is still swapping out the actual instructions that 3Dmark2003 is telling it to perform on several of the tests for "optimized" versions that were developed in house by Nvidia. Complains are still being made about which is better to run. Part of this is because it still seems that Nvidia's version cuts a lot of corners in terms of rendering the full scene.

Also don't count that review you saw about Doom 3 Beta. Nvidia has been developing their current driver set to optimize Doom 3's beta, whereas ATI did no such optimization. As long as Nvidia keeps optimizing their drivers for any/all games that you play then you should feel very confident in the FX 5900, otherwise expect to see the same performance that you would off a 9800 Pro.

The review i read for Doom 3 Beta Benchmarking was right here at Anandtech and they stated in the review that neither Nvidia or ATI had optimised drivers for this benchmark. And I believe them.

3D Mark scores are worthless. Nvidia cheats. ATI cheats. But Nvidia cheats more. At least when ATI cheats and get caught, they fess up and fix it. Nvidia just throws temper tandrem and continues to cheat.

I'm not anti Nvidia by any means. Both of my machines have Nvidia cards, Ti4200 and Geforce 2 pro. I like both cards. But I wouldn't trust any popular benchmarks when it comes to Nvidia as I know they cheat.
