New CPU, getting ready to install it, son runs by as he's excited to go outside, trips on the rug, and his bear which flies from his hand, knocks my brand new Q6600 to the floor and I cringe as it bounces off the tile floor a few times.

I installed it anyway, almost certain it was damaged. It posts all 4 cores in BIOS and registers in windows just fine. Being no technical guru, I have no idea if it's damaged. But when I run 3D Mark06 to see how it fares, on the CPU portion of the test I am getting 1fps. Is that normal or would you experts speculate that I have damaged to the core?

Why was he carrying a bear?

You would be surprised how stout LGA775 chips are. I had one in a system that was tossed around, motherboard completely trashed and submersed in sea water for a day and the CPU survived.

If you're really worried, OP, then run a 24hr test of Prime95 25.x, on "small FFTs". If that completes without error, then your CPU is likely to be fine.
