Hi, ive just built a new computer consisting of this spec:

AMD 64 Newcastle 3400
DFI LanParty UT 250GB MOBO
Maxtor 120 GB SATA
WD 80GB IDE Drive
ATI X800 PRO Saphire VIVO
GeIL 1GB (2x512MB) PC3200 Value Dual Channel Kit CAS2.5
Onboard Sound

None of the components are overclocked, well the RAM is but only very slightly. My 3D Mark was 4618. I dont know if this is good or bad. But when i run Doom3 it kinda stutters a bit when i enter new areas for a split second or a few seconds. I cant help but feel my system should be performing better.

Is this normal for my system to get this result? and is there anything you recommend to increase performance.

Thanks for any responses.

your score sounds about right to me...i get about 5500 with my 6800GT. also doom3 might be stuttering because ATI's suck balls in doom 3 :)

Do you think Soft modding my GFX card would increase the performance in Doom 3 a lot?

Yeh, i might give the omega drivers a crack and if the problem still persists i will try soft modding it to an XT

 Good advice!

What is getting rid of his Value memory going to do for him? If he gets memory with better timings, his score will probably increase by something insignificant- if at all.

That sounds about right. My computer, which is similar, gets a whopping 1800 in 3DMark05 with my 9600 XT. Tomorrow I'll run it when my 6800 GT gets here and I'll post the results for your reference.

i see you have the VIVO x800, you can ulock the extra 4 pipelines in that card and uf your real lucky you could end up with a x800xt pe

and you have the same ram as me, and if u just built that rig i would suspect yours in the newer stuff with faster timings (mine is 2.5-4-4-8 the new stuff is 2.5-3-3-6) anywho make sure you run a 1T command rate on that ram

i just set mine to 1T after reading a few threads and i tested in sandra and my memory bandwidth went up a fair amount. i primed it for 12 hours also just to be sure it would work at 1T

u should have a higher score than that

1) make sure u have the latest mobo drivers
2) latest nvidia drivers
3) make sure AA and AF are off
4) make sure your card is running at the correct speeds

also you may want another 512 of ram, but i dont see how it can impact your score that much

Ah ok, I had the AA and stuff set in 3d mark as well as the Nvidia display settings.

I put it all down to "application controlled" in the NV display and set it to none and optimal in 3d, and I hit 4375, which is better than 26 ish, still not great but alot better.

I also have the latest MB drivers and the Display drivers.

Have no idea on how to see if the card is running at supposed to run speeds, I wouldn't know where to find that out..
