3d input devices! Priceless...

I have used 3dConnexion's "spaceball" products for many years.
I recently changed companies and have been using mouse and keyboard for 2d/3d CAD.
I just received my new Space Explorer in the mail.
I installed it and fired up one of my assemblies to test it out.
I cannot wipe the smile off my face. 😀

Here is the model I have: http://www.3dconnexion.com/products/spaceexplorer.html
$300

If any of you work in a 3d application, you need one of these.
They are a little pricey, but once you have one, you will never work without one again.
They are extremely helpful in 2d environments too.

Looks pretty cool. I don't use CAD though, so I'm not totally sure how it works. I did watch the video though and it looked interesting.

Imagine trying to spin, pan and zoom a 3d object on your screen.
Now imagine doing this with a mouse and keyboard, versus a real object in your hand.

The 3d input devices make the movement simulate having the object in your hand.

That's neat. I've only dabbled in the 3d stuff. How do you like it 2d? Being a former steel detailer and doing the occaisional moonlighting job, I still am into using AutoCAD.

It's awesome in 2D as well. I also use AutoCAD and it makes pan/zoom a breeze.
You can pan while you zoom, in one fluid motion.
It's just as your head would act to a piece of paper.
