3D Graphics card help

Hello,

I've been looking into buying a 3D graphics card and I notice that some have tv/video in/out. Does this mean that I can take my camcorder (not digital) and download video clips to my hard drive? A lot of the spec sheets on these are Greek to me and I can't seem to find any documentation on whether or not I can do this.

If it has VIVO then you can use the VI part to save video to your PC... then same can be done with a TV capture card or and AIW (all in wonder card) but these tend to be kinda pricey such as the ATI Radeon 8500DV.. $399 MSRP.. could get it for about $310 online...
 
if the card has video IN, then yes, you can hook up your analog video device (camcorder, VCR, etc.) to the video in port of the card. however, in order to view or capture this video, you need a video capture program, or capture/editing program of some sort. windows XP has a movie maker program, so you MIGHT be able to do that without buying extra software. i've done some video editing through the video in of my video card and i used the program Ulead VideoStudio (excellent program by the way) and was very happy with the results. i ended up making a VCD from old home movies (and a regular MPEG2 file for use on my computer), and it turned out pretty good 🙂
