OK, for all you guys who can't get this to work...

Make SURE you follow the directions on which way to fold things. If you are like me, you didn't want to read carefully and folded it the way you thought it was supposed to be folded. You have to make sure the head of the dragen "goes in." In other words, the head goes in like a bowl, not the way you would expect it to fold.

It does help if you close both eyes and open one and look at it. Squint and blink a couple times. Your eye will adjust. It's easier to see it from farther than a few feet away.

Hope this helps.

I finally figured it out last night...the direction for the mountain and valley folds are confusing, and I was trying to match up the shaded areas in the same direction as the fold symbols everytime.

Works great now.

Yea, DO NOT look at the shaded picture on the corner of the paper. It is not correct. It will only make you put it together wrong. It took me forever. I had to look at the end of the vdeo to see how it is supposed to be put together.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to fold the head. How do you get it to be like in the video? In the video, it seems the forehead is folded in, but it seems impossible to fold it that way.

I can't get it to work. How the hell do you tape the tabs in back of those areas without it creasing the paper?

haha... I got it, it works pretty well I guess.
A tip to all you guys who didn't get it, start with the head first. There is an image on the link of the view of the head from the back.... so place the paper down with the non-printed side facing you and fold it as shown in the picture.

i got the head to look exactly as it should -- at least i think -- and it still isn't playing tricks on me. i'll have to keep trying (preferably not at work, which is where i first tried) to get it right.

Works fine in black & white. I was also confused by the directions and only figured out the head was inside-out by watching the video. My video.

Yeah, when you guys are doing this, make sure you take note of what "mountain fold" and "valley fold" mean. Because thats the key to getting this to work. Just make sure that the mountian folds look like /\ and valley folds take this shape \/. Once you get that down its smooth sailing. Just make sure you follow directions and not what you think it should be. Also, anyone interested in co-programming an app that will do this with any images? PM me if you are interested.

Just close one eye and focus on the dragon's eyes, move your head around slowly. It takes a few seconds, but you will see the illusion very easily this way.

sorry to bump a semi-old topic, but try putting it in a big glass jar! (as per the suggestion on the site) it helps hide the folds very well!

I did actually make one of these a few weeks ago. I put it on top of our entertainment center. It seems to work best when it's slightly above eye level, and I'm eight feet or so away. So basically, if I look at it as I walk in and out of the living room, it will follow me.
