Make SURE you follow the directions on which way to fold things. If you are like me, you didn't want to read carefully and folded it the way you thought it was supposed to be folded. You have to make sure the head of the dragen "goes in." In other words, the head goes in like a bowl, not the way you would expect it to fold.
It does help if you close both eyes and open one and look at it. Squint and blink a couple times. Your eye will adjust. It's easier to see it from farther than a few feet away.

I finally figured it out last night...the direction for the mountain and valley folds are confusing, and I was trying to match up the shaded areas in the same direction as the fold symbols everytime.
Works great now.
