3D Animation Programs

Hey,

I was wondering if anyone knows what programs are being used for today's PC games. I know MAYA has been used to make feature-length movies. Are there any game developers out there? What do people use, 3D Studio Max, Maya, other programs?

I used to use Animation Master, which is inexpensive and great to learn on, just wondering what the pros use. I'm not about to get any of these programs, just curious.

Cheers

3DSmax, Maya, XSI SoftImage, LightWave, Blender(Free- used mainly by Hobbyists). 3DSMax and Maya are the most used these days, but XSI SoftImage( only $600 for the entry level "Full" package)seems to be becoming more popular. If you want to learn for a career, learn 3DSMax or Maya.

Maya and Lightwave are separate applications. 😉

Cool, Thanks for the links. Once I have my system up I'll be able to make use of them 🙂

I've never heard of softimage, it's been a while since I've done any 3D stuff... Cool

Maya is generally used for modelling, and 3DSMax is generally used for rendering and skins.
