3COM NIC's???

<< So, the 3C905B-TX is the better card? >>

both cards are gonna perform just about the same...if you can actually notice a difference between the two, then more power to you.

basically, you'd just be paying for wake-on-lan though

Is it worth paying more for 3COM PCI 10/100 Remote Wake Up Network Card or go for the Intel Pro 100+ PCI Ethernet Network Card? any suggesstions?

I've had quite a few problems with 3COM NICs and almost none with Intel, Netgear, and Linksys.

Just me 2 cents.

perhaps you weren't using them right? there is a reason the 3com cards are the most expensive but are still used so widely.

Go to the networking forum and ask about them. I bet you find that they aren't very highly respected in industry and that Intel is preferred. They used to make a good NIC, but I think those days are over.

Is the reason that Intel CPUs are more widely used because they are better or is it because of the name? It's the name.

Edit: Oh, if only I could spell.

I didnt mean you are totally wrong, the intels are good cards too -- they may be better than 3com, unfortunately I have never used one in one of my own systems. I have used a few linksys and netgear cards, and they served me well, but I dont think that these are better than 3coms.

here is a link to the THG NIC review if anyone cares
