3com network card help please!!!

ok here is the problem, since i've installed the 3com etherlink 10/100mbps pci (nic) its been jacking up my starts and restarts. everytime i turn my comp on it pauses and then theres this weird beeping noise that happens once. the screen is blank. i have to turn the power off and then push the power button again before the comp will start. and when i go to the shut down to restart my comp. it goes through the normal process, but when it should start restarting it doesn't. it just sits there and i had to power down once again. please help its starting to drive me nuts.

 
okay thanks, but the same thing used to happen with the linksys one i had before. they're in the thrid pci slot. think i'll change them to the second one. thanks again
 
Occasionally you run into an unsolvable hardware conflict - eg. I had a 3com NIC that would prevent computer from booting (no POST) if a Matrox G200 adapter was also present, but a DLink worked OK. If it happens with two brands, I'd likely troubleshoot the motherboard. If the problem occurs when OS is loading, I'd suspect drivers.
