399 Tornados from May 4 - May 10

I heard on npr that it was about 300 and some of those were most likely double or false reports

Most of them were probably "Doppler tornadoes" where they see something that might be a tornado on the radar and just issue a tornado warning. I would be interested to see if there were 399 tornadoes spotted though.

I believe it's a combination of the two types. By comparison, the news reported 204 tornados for the entire month of May, 2002.

Sometimes they are not seen if they hit unpopulated areas. Oklahoma and Kansas have a lot of open land.

Preliminary reports show 384 from 5/4 - 5/10

And 412 for the 1st 10 days in May.
