I've heard that you're not supposed to plug this fan into the motherboard itself. Does anyone know why? I mean technically. When I plug mine into the motherboard I notice that it is a lot louder and spins kind of irregularly. Also sometimes it doesn't spin at all if I don't have my case fans plugged in. Weird.

It's because the fan draws a lot of power and your motherboard won't be able to handle it. People have reported that this fan blew out their motherboard fan connector. Just get a 3-4 pin connector and connect to your power supply.
