3870x2 unable to play game on new 30"

I recently purchased a Syncmaster 305T plus, and when playing Warhammer online, I experience a breakdown of video too frequently.
I run an Asus Maximus with a 3.0 9650 Extreme @ 3.0. 4gig ram ... the vid card is an Asus 3870x2. XP (I see just over 3gig of ram)
Is it possible that this card cannot run such a game on a 30"....or is it your opinion that a heavier card is needed.

What are your in game settings? At 2560x1600 you're going to have to limit things like FSAA and anisotropic depth or it will get slow. I'm not familiar with that game but when I was using a 3870x2 I found on my 3007's (also a 30" 1600P display) that I was running 1280x800 for smoother game play and have all "eyecandy" on. Mostly driving games here.
 
3870X2's only has 512MB per gpu (2X512) meaning at higher resolutions there isn't enough memory resources to devote to larger textures and AA or AF processing. If you want to game at 2560X1600 you will be better off with either a single card with 1GB of memory like the 4870/4890 or a dual gpu card with 2X1GB of memory (4870X2 or 4850X2 2GB).
