Just got a VISIONTEK HD3870 yesterday and i uninstalled my old x1950pro (agp) (driver removal, driver cleaner, then install 7.12s) and i get a BSOD whenever i try to boot into windows with my new card. It is some atiXXXXX.diag file or something. I have uninstalled/reinstalled multiple times and also tried the 7.11s.

Here are my system specs:

ASROCK 775DUAL-VSTA
E4300
2x1gb Corsair XMS 667
150gb raptor
500watt PSU
Vista 32 bit

Try loading only the driver. I installed the entire 7.12 and got some weird symptoms.

Does Vista boot up ok with the 3870 if no drivers are installed? Maybe Vista is looking for an AGP card.

Did you select 3850 when you downloaded the 7.12 or did you select the drivers for the 1950pro? They should not be different, but I looked at ATi's site and you do have to select the proper card.

the Dual VSTA series (Dual775,4coredual) boards have issues with the 38x0 series, Asrock has released an updated bios for these boards to correct boot up issues with XP, however the 38x0 series apparently still do not work correctly with Vista, even with the latest 2.20 bios for my 4coredual VSTA, it still refuses to boot in to Vista Ultimate x86 with a sapphire 3850 512mb that was bought for the system...however the system seems to work fine with XP....the only problem is I don't want to run XP.

It's your motherboard. The Via PT880 chipset sucks (no offense)

It's an incompatibility with your board and some high-end cards. I had a couple of customer's with that board that could not upgrade to any 8800 seriers Nvidia cards without getting blue screens as well. The solution for them at the time was replacing their ASrock PT880 board with an intel chipset board and problem fixed.
