There used to be an option in icq99, but I cant find it anymore in 2000. Did they take out that feature? If they did, how else can you trace someone else's ip??

oops i didnt even realize this wsa the wrong forum

that feature was taken out in 99B i believe.

I can't say I've actually looked for a program that does it but firewalls usually show you direct connections.

otherwise you could get a program such as Jammer.

Neither of them will specify which user is which IP, but they do show what connections are made, and you can narrow them down.

go to command prompt and type netstat. You may use -n if you do not wish to resolve the IP to their respective names.

ICQ usually connects to weird ports like 25000, etc.

It won't show till you send a message and establish any other type of connection with the other person.

yes... netstat -a usually does the trick, however you would have to establish a connection with that particular user.

Forgive me if the following betrays a substantial ignorance of Win98, but is there a way for Windows to reveal what my IP no. (on a dialup connection, of course <g>) is? 😱

There is a program called "ICQ sniff" (or ICQ IP sniffer) that works great, just enter the person's UIN and if they are online, you've got their IP.
