im using a DFI lanparty ultra d with 2x512 pc3200 corsair xms twinmos

10x multi
166 divider
240FSB at 2.4ghz.

forsome reason it wont boot at 250fsb what should i do?

more vcore maybe? Mine loves 2.4 w/ 1.375v, needs like 1.5v almost to do 2.5 stable (not worth the heat and volts to me).

more ram voltage? with your current settings, the ram should be right at 200mhz. I'd just go up 1 mhz at a time (to 241 fsb from 240), and use the system for a day. The next day, go to 242, then 243, etc. In 10 days you'll be @ 2.5 if you can actually go that high with the chip.

set voltage to 1.375, at stock 1.35 the voltage droop cause it to be something like 1.31.
Also at 250HTT ur ram will be at 208 mhz speed, i donno if this is valid for all corsair ram, but my ram has some problems with the mobo.
Also unless ur ambien temp is low, i would not go high with voltage while overclocking a dual core, on my board if is set the voltage higher the voltage regulators, underneath those heatsinks on the mobo overheat, but the again my room temp is 30C+.
Also make sure u set the HTT multiplyer to 4.

ill give that a shot. mind you i havnt oced since the 2.4c p4 came out and i got that sucker to 3.4

im running 2 primes and was wondering what setting to torture it at?

ok this mobo is odd i changed everything to 1.375 v

Small FFT i think are better for just testing the cpu, also u will need to run 2 instances of prime 95.
I just instaled it 2 times :p, run both of them and set affinity for each one to run on different core.

Sounds like it may be your ram. Try maybe memtest at the higher fsb to see what happens.

You need to find out if it is your CPU or something else. To take the "something else" totally out of the equation, relax all latencies for your RAM and set memory to 133 divider, then set HT multiplier to 3X and then start cranking up the CPU.

Same problem. My 3800 will get to 2450 on 1.45 volts rock solid 20+ hours dual prime, countless hours of gaming and not a single crash. Stays very cool. Been running it like this for many months now. But no matter how high I crank the volts, underclock my memory, lower my HT mult etc, it is not stable at 2500.. Pisses me off cuz Im so close but I'm still happy it's as fast as it is.

I think it may be my motherboard, a8n-e. I get voltage dips on my vcore.. If its set to 1.5 it will stay around 1.5 but occasionly dip to 1.31 for a split second..I'd be willing to bet thats when my lockups occur.. I tried 3 different power supplies.. Oh well.

2.5 seems to be the wall for most X2 3800's, Toledo or Manchester. You can get 2.6 or even 2.7 to boot into Windowz but for the extra amount of voltage and heat I just don't think the small kick is worth it. I can run mine at 2650 with vcore of 1.475 dual prime stable for only 8 hours but my system us snappier @ 2.5 with a vcore of 1.4 and dual prime stable for 24+ hours. The other nice thing is that 250 is a magic number, works great for DDR 500 and with the 4x HTT multi. JMHO and YMMV.

Sounds right. im using some ****** XMS corsair twinmos and i have the divider at 150

guess ill just leave it at 2.5. So 2.6 isnt worth it for the very small gain?

In benchmarking you can see gains, but depending on your board and memory speed, most 100~200 Mhz gains are minimal...especially with a Dual Core chip.

priming at 2.6 at 1.4 vcore

250fsb 150 divider 4x HTT 10x multi

55 load is that any good for stock hsf?

Don't sweat it, 2.5GHz is also the sweet spot for my x2 3800+ at default voltage. Above that, I have to start crankin' the vcore until it tops out at just over 2.6GHz. Not worth it, back to 2.5GHz.
