What is the difference between the 2? Cas 2.5 cheaper than CAS 3.0 ?

$44.94 Kingston 512MB DDR Memory PC3200 400Mhz 184-pin DIMM - KVR400X64C3A/512

$39.00 Kingston 512MB DDR Memory PC3200 200Mhz 184-pin DIMM - KVR400X64C25/512

Better to get the $39.00 CL2.5 anyway...

ALso, can I use 2x1GB and 2x512MB for a total of 3GB?

First, if you're running MS Windows, 2GB is your max unless you've got the Enterprise Server edition or the 64bit editions. Second, many motherboards will drop your RAM access speed when using all 4 channels, usually from DDR 400 to DDR 333 or even DDR 200, check your manual.

Hopefully this will assist you in determining whether you want to install more than 2 1GB sticks.

What about the megahertz rating ... the 200 versus the 400 ... does that really mean anything in regards to the memory speed?

200 MHz = the memory clock signal; but, DDR SDRAM (aka double-data-rate synchronous dynamic random access memory) transfers data on both the rising and falling edges of the clock signal (double, X2). So, it is usually called DDR400 (400 = memory clock x2); or, PC3200 (referring to it's theoretical transfer rate bandwidth).

Your question about a basic technical detail illustrates why most sales campaigns concentrate on fluff and eye-candy. Too much detail delays sales to muggles. :D

Yay I understand the drr thing and the up down data rate. doublepumped makes 400. My question wht are they listing it as 200? Never mind but great find OP

Anyone else having a problem with the page not loading after clicking the "Checkout with Google Checkout" button?

The connection is reset when it's trying to load. I'm on dial-up.

The post above is a non factor. Simply contact Kingston for a repair or replacement. Its Kingston for goodness sake. Now if it were Flyby Night Memory then I would worry.
