Sloth: I have to play both sides of the fence here. I have to agree DanC's attitude is painful. He has placed a great deal of energy into this team and most often his efforts have met opposition. He feels justified in his attitude because of it but I can't agree with it nonetheless.
The problem is deeper than that though. Opposition bears the responsibility of explanation and this I fear is a root problem. Just saying you disagree isn't enough. Two other things should occur if you care about your fellow member in the slightest. One is explaining your position. The other is providing alternatives. We seem to way to often get caught up in a flame war or bitter rebuttal than providing any of these things (not everyone mind you).
I don't know how long you have been here but there have been many now in recent history that have just up and quit in the name of self-justification. This just plain 'is sucks'.

The history of TA has value to most here even though most do not know what it means. Something held this group together for a long time, a long time before I was here. I submit the question what? What is it all about to you? What values was this team based on? How are problems solved? Why did/do you stay? What do you want your team to represent?
Many factors are responsible for the fallout. I submit to you that past disorganization has lead to attempts to get organized and that many of these attempts contain little knowledge of the true history and shared/common beliefs of TA. Some of you know exactly what I'm saying here. For those of you who are scratching their heads asking "what the heck is he talking about' I am sorry for my lack of a better explanation.
Quitting is cheap. It has no benefit. It lets the history die and also destroys remaining hope from folks that do know what I am talking about. All the members are valuable here. Letting DanC or any other single individual determine your basis is very weak. You folks need to come together and tell everyone what it was and how you want it to be. Your voice is valuable and the members of this team will listen. The members are not here to take it away. Inadvertently it may happen because of lack of understanding but it is not intentional.
Maybe we should re-examine the term 'Family'.
