3700+ SD idle seems a bit high?

Ive got a 3700+ SD - E4. Im idling at 38-39 with load at about 49-50. Im oc'ed to 2607 with 237x11 at 1.425 Vcore, 4xHT, 166 mem divider. Case is running 43C ambient with a 27cfm 80mm front intake and 120mm rear exhaust. i tried reseating the CPU and have the same results. temps are same no matter what monitor program i use (mobo monitor, speedfan, etc.)

Too many posters out there claiming 22C idle (i have to assume they are on water cooling). But I have heard that this CPU's danger zone starts mid 50's. Any other 3700+ owners seeing these numbers?

Even at stock speeds i am running about 35-36 idle, 45-47 load. Is there something im missing here? Only thing i can think of removing the CPU exhaust sleeve that is on the case door and putting another intake there but cant imagine that is going to change things that significantly.

22C idle is bogus, even for watercooling. It means they are either running absolute stock voltage, or they have low ambients, or both.

you are running pretty hot. could just be a hot CPU... but you're not exceeding 50 so you are safe.

With the oc running SuperPi I load at about 48-49. RUnning torture tests on Prime95 i can get into the low 50s (51-52). Was hoping to get to 2.8ghz but i think i may be pressing my luck since it would force me to a higher Vcore.

That is your problem, no doubt. My boss has a 3700+ at 2.75Ghz, it idles a little over 30, goes up to 40+ load, but either way, your case temp is way too high.

If you haven't already,

Improve airflow (cable tidying, add fans)
Turn down your heating lol
Make sure HSF isn't full of dust/fluff, remove dust from vents/components as best you can.

43 is very warm for a case. Try taking the door off, and put a desk fan blowing in there, once case temp is down to about 30, check temps then, you should see a big difference. Your CPU is cooler than your case temp, that's pretty good going actually! (IMO)

My 3700+@1.58V used to load at 48-49C with an XP-120 and around 25C ambient. Yours sounds like it's a tad high although the 7000cu isn't quiet as efficient as some of the heatsinks on the market.

My HSF had a ton of fluff in it from a Panaflo blowing down. Cleaned it out yesterday and temperatures dropped a full 15f ... don't underestimate the effect of dust.

This was a new build so it has not had the time to build the dust. Ive only used AS3 in the past and this is my first time with AS5 and with all the reviews of it I keep hearing that you need to give it some time and you will see the temps drop...what kind of time we talkin? Im going to remove the CPU sleeve and add another intake fan in it's place and go from there.

Funny thing is I have only used Zalman 7000 series heatsinks and they have always been great, but this is my first time using the all copper sink. Im used to the alcu, lighter and efficient. I figured since i was going for more aggressive oc's with this (compared to my old XP barton 2500+) i would go with the all copper as it is supposed to dissipate things better. We shall see.
