so I want to use my 360 controller on my XP machine as its such a nice controller. I;ve read up and down how MS specifically designed this controller so that it would be cross platform yadda yadda.

So I go and pug it in and fire up Madden. WTH?! "back" and "start" register as buttons 7 & 8, the 2 L/R triggers dont even register. Circle of light is black and you can't do a damned thing about it... sure there are 3rd party home-brew apps such as XBCD, but ta hell if I can get it to work right. I cant even pause the game via the controller becuase "Start" is like button 8 and in Madden the default for that is a stiffarm.

Am I missing something obvious here?

MS drivers aren't very compatible with a lot of games.

I've been following this thread for a few days. I downloaded the drivers from here and manually installed them over the MS drivers. Then I installed the XBCD program and used the Logitech config file and reversed the right thumbsticks.

This site shows what you need to do to get the driver installed and the XBCD program working.

For the Logitech Cordless or whatever mappings, create a new text file with an .xgi extension and inlude the following text:

[Gamepad]
DevType=5
LStickDZ=0
RStickDZ=0
BThreshold=10
TThreshold=10
AThreshold=100
AxesOn=9
LAFactor=255
RAFactor=255
NButtons=12
LStickFull=0
RStickFull=0
AxesScale=64646464646464
Layouts=1
Profile0=27292A280A090B0C0203040105060708191A1C1B24231D1E

To switch the axes, in XBCD, under Xbox, change it so the right thumbstick looks like:

--------------- RZ+

Z+-------------------------------Z-

--------------- RZ-

Good luck. :)

Did you reverse the axes under the Xbox tab, and then Apply/Save the config? You might also need to re-calibrate in Windows settings.

The truck stick now works fine for me. :)

EDIT: I'm not sure how to reverse the buttons. I'm sure if you post a message in that thread above someone can help you.

I'm lost on the reversing. Not sure how to adjust anything in that config. I can't believe this is MS's big "cross-platform" controller... takes a hacked 3rd party app to get anything to work.

As for the ring of light, I have the #1 (upper left) LED lit... is it supposed to be like that?

Yes, matthewthefirst programmed the 1 LED to be lit. He might make other versions of the drivers with different lights once he gets back from vacation.

To switch the axes on the right stick, open up XBCD. Under the Xbox tab, youll see stuff for the buttons and the axes. Nothing shows up right under the Xbox tab, but ignore it. On the right thumbstick, you should see some Z and RZ axes. Click on those buttons and manually change them so it looks like the diagram above.

Ok I'll have to play around with it when I get home (damn you work!) THe controller is so damned nice, but with no truck stick, it isn't working right. Hopefully I can get this dialed in, thanks for you all your help, and by all means please if you can update me with any "revelations" :)

Oh I was also going to ask, if I plug a 360 headset into the controller does windows see/recognize and allow me to use it? Would love it for some VOIP during Madden games.

As of right now, it doesn't support this. I'm not sure if it will in the future.

bummer... I never tried, but does Madden (and the controller) support Rumble? I personally wouldn tuse it, but I'm assuming that works with the controller.

Im still just amazed at how MS screwed this up.
