36GB WD Raptor firmware update?

I know there are firmware updates available for SCSI drives but are there firmware updates for the 36GB WD Raptor?

I checked their support pages but couldn't find anything. Anybody know?

Can you guys tell me how much of a real world difference does the Raptor make for loading games, mp3 songs, installation, loading windows, etc.....compared to 1 80gb 7200 rpm drive and if its noticable from your personal experience. Also what about 1 Raptor vs. 2 80 SATA drives in Raid 0? what is faster. I am trying to justify purchasing a hard drive. Size is not an issue since I wont occupy more than 33gb of space so all i care about is speed.

You will definitely see an improvement in speed going with a Raptor. I love the speed so much I had to go SCSI. I've become a speed freak! But yea, everything will feel much faster. Thats how I felt anyway.

The raptors are quite a bit noisier than a 7200 rpm IDE drive.

They are fast but they are noisy also.

I have 2 in a RAID 0 but I've been having problems with them so I may RMA them back to newegg.

I have 2 ina RAID 0 setup...I really don't think noise is an issue with them.

They do fly however...I recently installed WinXP Pro. Took about 15 minutes.

The RAID 0 vs 1 drive is a bit of a loaded question because the performance gains will really depend on your stripe size and the size of the files you are reading/writing. I guess the best way to put it is that RAID 0 is not a set it and forget it type of solution. You might have to reformat and change the stripe size on your array to find the size that works best for you. You have to decide before purchasing 2 failry expensive drives if you are willing to do this. As far as the noise goues, yes they are pretty noisy.... But then again, my CPU fan isn't quiet either.
