360 S flash drive storage question

Are the limitations of the 4gb model due only to storage space issues, so it can do things you need a hard drive for with a 16gb flash drive, or will the limitations still be in effect because it does not detect a real hard drive?

I've been thinking of getting a 4gb model and flash drive, but I am concerned it will not perform 100% the same as the 250gb model (but with less space) because I noticed a review saying the person put a 2gb flash drive in and was still not able to use theater mode in Halo. So was that purely a space issue or does a 4gb 360 S plus flash drive not truly behave the way it would with a real hard drive?

http://nukezilla.com/2010/09/14/got-a-new-4g-xbox-slim-you-cant-play-halo-reach-co-op-then/

also from the halo reach faq on xbox.com: "Q1: The error “One or more players do not have an Xbox 360 Hard Drive. An Xbox 360 Hard Drive is required to play co-op on Xbox LIVE or system link” occurs when I try to play. Why?

A1: One or more players do not have an Xbox 360 hard drive attached to their Xbox 360 console. Some multiplayer aspects of Halo: Reach require an Xbox 360 hard drive."

Ah, thanks for that link.

From the article:
a storage through USB sticks etc. doesn’t seem to fix the problem.

I guess that answers that. Darn.

Second question:

Can anyone confirm the 250gb hard drive sold at Deal Extreme is an official product and not a knock-off?

The price seems too good to be true.

If it being sold on Deal Extreme, it is not an official product.

Damn that sucks becuase I don't feel like spending $130 for the regular version when you know this is the price it should be at.

Dang for $57 from Deal Extreme I would jump on it anyway. If it works, you got a great deal. If it doesn't, I'm sure you could remove the case, format, and have a 250Gb hard drive that you could keep or sell.

If you already have a hard drive, you can take apart the case and the actual hard drive will fit into the slot in the console.

I've already seen that on youtube done, but a little nervous about being banned by MS off of Live (especially after just getting the xbox last week)
