Why does the public riot at launch dates and people shoot other people for a damn gaming console? I just do not get it besides people being so damn greedy... is there any other factors besides greed and the console being a status symbol so you can say you got one when it first came out?

i've no problem with people making a buck , i'd do it too.... so long as its not on our forums. And hey - If some idiot wants to pay $3g+ for a $600 toy...let em, its THEIR loss, if they want to eat cup o' noodles to play a video game, their problem not mine. if they make enough to afford it, their money not mine

Nope, nobody cared about the wii enough to shoot anyone. we did have a fight at Best buy yesterday though

hardly, people viewed the wii simply as a purchase, not as an item to turn around and sell for a profit. when people saw they weren't going to acquire the ps3 they weren't dissapointed about not being able to play the console, they saw thousands of dollars lost.

lack of greed != lack of interest
 
The OP pretty much summed it up in a word: Greed

Although I wonder about families camping in line for a few days for a video console, makes me wonder how they can afford a $600 game system if they aren't working.
