What are the controls in COD 4? Like what button is run and what button is grenade?

I'm also a bit disappointed with the controllers of this generation. The sticks on the xbox controller are a bit too stiff and I don't like the concave shape. Naturally the most sensitive part of my thumb is the very tip of it, so I try to put the tip of my thumb on the joy stick. This causes my thumb to slide around a bit and screw up my aiming. Maybe the Xbox controller was designed for mutants. It just feels off.
Playstation 1 and 2 had great controllers. The sticks were convex and they had a textured rubber that made it very sticky so my thumbs wouldn't slide around. The sticks even had the right firmness. It was great. Then the PS3 came along and screw it all up. The L2 and R2 buttons now bend so it feels like the controller is going to break in my hands and the sticks are a lot looser than they were before.

I forget exactly which controls do what, but I think one of the joystick things is sprint when it's pushed in and the other is stab. When someone throws a grenade at me, I tense up a bit and usually end up accidentally hitting both so I end up trying to stab a grenade. Not a good idea. I also accidentally sprint instead of stabbing people. I'm probably a bit more clumsy with the controller than most people, but I still think the layout is pretty awkward.

I agree about the Playstation controllers, best ones I've ever used. I need to find a good Playstation like controller to use with the PC, I've got Tomb Raider Anniversary and I just can't do it with a keyboard and mouse and a 360 controller would be blasphemy.

Sorry but Xbox controller is pretty much all there is. I also have a Logitech Rumblepad 2 but it's not natively supported by anything. For every game, I need to customize all of its controls before it will work. It's pretty terrible for most games but it works great as a controller for a media computer. I really should make a youtube video about it and explain how to make this kind of a setup :D

To the OP- list off say the ten games you are most interested in. As a general rule of thumb, PCs tend to be a bit smoother on FPSs if you don't mind dealing with DRM, they are easily the best platform for strategy games(the Nintendo DS actually would be second there, touch screen *is* a decent mouse substitute) for RPGs right now I would say the consoles by a fairly huge margin overall. The titles that are on the PC are certainly more flexible in terms of modifying them from their original state, but most RPGs don't seem to make it to the PC at all. Oh yeah, MMOs unless you are a Square/Enix die hard, the PC is the only game in town.

If you just want to buy a game, pop it in and have it work the 360 rather handily trounces the PC.

PS3 controllers are USB and you can get drivers for Windows.

Same here :) It's easier to get into gaming on an Xbox360 though. And be sure to get at least the 60GB model :p

Just by purely comfort and precision standards, i much prefer the Xbox over PS2/3 controller. the Sticks on the PS2 were too tall and convex which were major issues for me while the Xbox360 fit great, short, concave and personally, imo ,m much more precise.

My roommate and I own a Xbox and Playstaton and given the choice, i always, always go for the xbox. I really, really think the PS2/3 is a horribly designed controller.
