360 Memory Upgrade Program Ends Saturday (1/31)

Link - For anyone that didn't know or has been sitting on their hands about this, the memory upgrade program for 360 Arcades ends on Saturday 1/31.

This lets you get a free 512 MB memory card or 20GB hard drive. The 20GB HDD is $19.99 (Core) or $29.99 with three months of Live (Arcade).

Hrm, was gonna order one for a friend when I got home today but it seems like the 20GB deal is gone already. 🙁

Edit: Nvm, was able to buy one after all but I had to use this link: xboxstorageupgrade.com

Awwww. Lame.

I bought a 60 gig upgrade to go with my arcade. I guess it saw that my arcade version was already updated and is blocking me the upgrade. I was going to try and grab a 512 meg card for backups/transfers.

🙁

gotta use that link nohr put up. punch in your info assuming its a core and you'll get option of refub 20gig or 512 memory card.

I never saw the 20gb drive + 3 months live.

I did that, but I don't see the option for the memory card. The only thing I see is a 20gb drive + 3 month live for $29.99. I have an Arcade, if that makes a difference.

I think that's probably the reason. If I remember correctly the arcades were once packed with a 256meg card. So they wouldn't offer you another free memory card.

I have a core that well came with nothing. so its probably why they gave me the memory card and refurb hd option but no hd + 3 month live option.

I ordered it late Friday night. Just got an email today with a UPS tracking number. Says it shipped today and will arrive tomorrow.

I just got mine today. Came with minor cosmetic defect (one corner of the plastic housing was cracked). However it seems to be working perfectly.

On the other hand, I wish someone would have told me the 20 gig hdd has at maximum 13.9 gigs usable with 6.1 gigs hidden and undeletable. :/ That would have swayed me to get a bigger hdd.
Is 13.9 gigs enough? I'm installing fable 2 to the hdd as we speak.

20GB is enough to install a game, maybe two and have room for a few other things. I just ordered a 120GB WD drive and will be attempting the upgrade... we'll see if it works!

Mine did last night just fine. I have yet to hear of anyone getting banned for using the mod.
Not yet, anyways. Eventually, Microsoft will collect all the hddss.bin files floating on the Internet, list the unique IDs, and then ban everyone with a modded drive. (Or possibly just stop it from working.) And before you say "well, I could just alter the unique ID", they're usually generated from an algorithm - just changing a bit or two isn't going to make it valid.

That's true, but considering the cost difference between buying a M$ 120GB and a 120GB laptop drive, you could just about buy another arcade 360 (and have a 20GB drive for it).
