I have a couple of the white media remotes. I've seen videos on using them that show when the tv button is pressed it glows red and gives you about a 10 second tv control only function before defaulting back to xbox mode. Mine don't seem to work this way, it stays in a mode till the tv button is hit then stays in that mode till it is hit again. Are there different versions of the old white remote or do mine just work funky?
 
I have one and used it quite frequently when using the 360 as a media extender. BTW, don't use the 360 as a media extender as that seems to be the fastest way to a RROD. The remote I have is the mini version and it seemed to operate just a TV remote would.

I think I understand what you're asking and the remote I have never switched back and forth between control modes for different AV components. Most likely because I don't think it has the ability to control anything else.
 
I'm using most of my 360s only as media extenders.

Not using the remote to control other components, just turn tv on/off, change input type stuff. Was really screwing me up when trying to get correct code for my tv working since my tv button on the remote doesn't work the same way as everyone else's seems to.
