360 - can't watch videos when not online?

Talking about my own Divx and Mpeg videos, not those from the marketplace. I like to sync my rifftrax to my DVD movies and burn them so I can watch them on my 360 without worrying about sync issues. Two days ago my ISP was down all day (some jackass construction crew cut through a fiber optic pipe, took them 17 hours to fix it.) Anyway, I figured I'd watch some of the above mentioned videos, but when I tried to play them I got an error that said a media update was required. I knew this was bullshit as I had already downloaded that update and had no problem playing these the day before.

Is there something I can do about this? I will be moving soon to a place that won't have internet for a week and I won't be able to live without Mike, Kevin and Bill ripping on Harry Potter and Transformers 2.

Did you switch 360s recently? You may have to do a license transfer of the media update to get it to work when not signed in. That's what I had to do with one of mine.

I just did the transfer, restarted the 360 and disconnected it, and it's still giving me the error.

You need to be signed into the profile that downloaded the media update, but that profile does not need to be signed in to Xbox live. You can sign into the profile without connecting to Live.
