360 and sd card

I have an arcade and I hear there's an update that will let it put save games and games on usb devices. Does it work as well with a dedicated reader and a class 6 sd card as thumb drives? I have a spare 16gb class 6 sd that I'm not using but I'm hesitant to apply the update since it will take 128mb which will leave me with virtually nothing free if it doesn't work.

I don't see why not, the 360 should treat a USB reader+card like an other USB storage device.

Not necessarily, there's plenty of card readers that require drivers to be installed to work properly so it'll vary by reader to reader.

I was wondering about how picky it was with the reader and media. From what I've seen of reviews, it seems like a crapshoot if thumb drives will pass its data loss test or not and I've noticed the xbox won't read cards off my multi reader. I might try a single slot reader and hope for the best.

Gotcha, then if you can you should post what you have so the OP has the best shot of getting something that works. The reader I've tried never worked.

Thanks for the advice guys, I went to walmart and picked up a targus sd only reader for $8 and popped in my adata 16gb card, just installed dead rising to it! Man its nice to not have the drive running when playing a game.
