I was searching for a new quieter power supply for a new build. I read an article somewhere about a new PS with a 120mm fan, quieter and cooler than Enermax. This was a Digituz PS which I could find on no search engine. I did a search at pricewatch under power supplies for 120mm and found ,this power supply shipped for $29, seems like a great deal if the supply is as high a quality as the sales page indicates [dedicated PS circuit for each output, like Antec TuruPower?]

Hi Josephus,

Quieter, it may be...the 3.3V and 5 V supply only supports up to 140 watts (40 + 100W), so a picky MB, such as ECS K7S5a will not get enough power, according to these specs. Need 160watts at least.

I've learned two things over the last year building a few systems for myself and friends: firs tis never to skimp on the power supply. I have had over six problems in the last year I can chalk up to having a bad power supply act up with a motherboard. Secondly, I would never trust a company on the web which has trouble spelling "QUIET."

ResellerRatings seems to agree. 5.8 lifetime isn't a very good sign. Beware.

Correct me if this is wrong...
but does it say that the fan blows air on the CPU?
If so, wouldn't the heat from the P/S be blown onto the CPU?

quick look at the size of the heatsink tells me this might be a so-so PSU.

Probably a modified deer or something,.

Just as another tidbit, as an afficionado of fans..i've yet to find a 120mm fan that was as quiet as the quieter 80mm versions. Of course the air CFM is higher, but the noise is as well.

Get yerself a nice pc power and cooling fan, or a quiet antec, etc...or buy a quality unit and put a $10 pc power and cooling "silencer" fan in it (wear yur rubber gloves and mind the voltage...). The 80mm silencer simply blows a lot of air and cant be detected aside from any positive/negative pressure it creates.

Now if someone has found a high cfm 120mm fan that delivers <22db, please let me know. And at that db, please have validated that it doesnt have bearing sounds, motor clicks, or other delightful acoustic anomolies that make the pure running sound level irrelevant (eg: vantec's clickers)...

With regards to the 'blows directly to cpu', in general the thermal output of a quality psu is lower than a cpu temp, but having a big fan blowing on your cpu isnt necessarily a good thing if the air flow disrupts the air flow of the cpu cooler...in other terms, its nice to have good airflow IN THE VICINITY but perhaps not right on the unit.

Having looked at the photos of the innards, the visual quality is not readily apparent. Heatsinks are small, which may be why they went to a 120mm fan in the first place, the board looks like a cheapo solder-on generic.

Worth a look, but i'd still take a pcp&c, a fotron, an antec, enermax, etc.
