350W or 400W that is the question..

I've decided on getting an Antec psu. Now deciding on 350 or 400. Here is my rig:

Pentium 4 1.8@2.4 (It did 2.4 on my old p4b266-C w/ enermax 300W non P4-compliant psu using ezplug)
Asus P4T-E
2x128M Samsung RDRAM
Ati 8500DV
SoundBlaster Audigy Platinum
Lite-On 24X CDRW
Creative 6x DVD
Netgear 100/10 NIC
3Com 56K modem
5 Sunon Case Fans

My old P4B266 system did 2.4 but would lock up occassionlly when the +12V line dipped really low (in the 11.5). Would a 350W help remedy the problem? I would like to spend as less money as i could..thanks for any help

No, a 350w psu will not necessarily fix your problem. I have a 300w HEC AR-T psu w/ a combined +3.3 & +5v= 180w running my secondary 1.6a @ 2.4Ghz rig. I also pulled the fan out and stuck a quiet Panaflo in there.

The +12v is ~11.9v
The +5v is ~5.05

i take it you think a 350W psu is adequete for my setup, since you are running on a 1.6@2.4 w/ a 300W. The other reason i want to get a new psu is becuase the p4t-e doesnt have ezplug and requires the auxilary power and the 12V connection... i was looking at the antec PP352X or PP412X which i think you recommmended in another one of my threads...

Heroichi Electronic corp. Power Supply 300watt HEC-300AR-T UL Approved. World Famous Power Brand, AMD(Athlon)/Intel Approved Model#: HEC-300AR-T

36.00 shipped from Newegg

You can get the 350w for 9.00 more. Antec also make a solid power supply.

<< 350w is good for your setup but 400w is even better. get the 400w. >>

While you're at it, get a 500w.

400W is 30 bux more! I'm a broke college student right now.. I dont plan on upgrading for a very very long time. But i'm taking that you guys thnk 350W is enough for my system... Don't wanna get a 400W unless i have too. Btw, john, is the HEC psu that you recommended P4-ready? I see two of them listed. One is the $39 and one that is $44 i think. It says P4 ready on the $44 one but not on the $39 one.
