350W enough?

Is a 350W power supply enough for my computer? I can upgrade...

And if 350W isn't enough, how could I tell? Like, what would happen?

Specs:

Athlon XP 2700+ 2.167 gHz
Sapphire Atlantis Radeon 9700 Pro
3x 80mm Casefans
A7N8X Mobo
512 MB (1 stick) Kingston HyperX memory
WD "Special Edition" HDD, 80 GB
Lite On 52x24x52 CD-RW

--I hope I didn't forget anything, thanks.

350 is perfectly fine, we put 300Watts I put 300 watts in most of the newbuilds i do, that is more then enough

A 300W PSU would be more then adequate for such a system, a decent 350W unit would handle such a load with ease.

Heres a way to find out if you want to be sure. I did this just to make sure the system i was building had enough and to make sure it had some upgrade room.

Best link I've read in a long time.. Good read!😀

Because of this I've finally figured out that my Antec
Led fans have been crashing my system. The 4th case
fan was enough to hit 358.09-Watts out of a 350 Enermax
Whisper. I think I'm going to take them all but one out of
that computer for a test. This should reduce the overall
max Watts down to 300.49Watts. This is still over 85%
which is 350*0.85=297.5Watts. It would crash at random
times only during max loads.. Figures I should have done
all this before.😉

Even if you have a Junk PS 350 watts should be fine for the system you listed, if you have a quality supply you could easily add more and still be fine. Just my 2 cents and hope this helps.... 🙂

Radeons 9700's recommend a 300 watt PSU to work ... but I have used a generic one far less than 300 and it still worked fine

btw ... symptoms of a bad PSU, that I have expierenced, are no booting, random rebooting, errors when using CD-RW's, etc.
