I am looking at the AMD 3500+ with a winchester core for $275 or the AMD 3800+ for $428 with a newcastle core. Does the extra $153 justify the extra 200mhz worth of CPU speed? I have no idea how to over clock... nor do i want to tamper with it i just want to know what peeple think. Should i get the 3500+ or the 3800+? Thanks for your help.

trust me, I made this mistake as well. It seems the consensus is that 3000/3200/3500 all seem to top out on their OC at 2.5-2.65Ghz. if I could do it all over again I would defintely buy a 3200+ and especially because next week AMD is having a price drop. The 3200+ should be priced around $169 I heard.

I think you stated you do not want to OC that being said. the 3500+ is what I would go with or did go with for the slight speed diferanse of about 7% or less in benchmarks thats a high price to pay for the 3800+ 275 Retail is about the right price.

If not OC'ing I think the 3800+ is the way to go, esp. with the price drop - but watch how prices shake out online first.

If you're not OCing, the 3800+ is the way to go. The $150 price premium is small change for nearly an FX-53
