340MB IBM MICRODRIVE for $43 + tax after PM & MIR

I just hang up the phone with Staples after PM'ing the IBM 340mb Microdrive for $124. The CSR was nice enough to allow me using the $20 off $100 coupon. I heard many people have said Staples already changed their PM policy; i.e. you cannot use coupon when PM'ing an item, or the coupon will be factored when PM'ing. So YMMV. If you are not lucky enough to have a nice Staples CSR let you use the coupon, then buy it from Buy.com for $74 after $50 MIR. It is still a decent deal. They now offer free shipping and most of you will pay no tax. So the calculation is as followed:

1. Assume you can PM with coupon -- $231.50 - [($231.50 - $123.95)*110%] - $20 off $100 - $50MIR = $43 shipped free + tax

2. Assume you cannot PM with coupon -- $123.95 - $50 MIR = $73.95 shipped free.

$231.50 from Staples

$124 from Buy.com

$50 Mail-in rebate

you can't use coupon after PM
and these are 2 different microdrives from 2 different companies. So they won't allow to PM it.

<< these are 2 different microdrives from 2 different companies >>

Direct Quote from Microtech website:
"Microtech now distributes the IBM family of microdrives. The 340MB, 512MB, & 1GB Microdrives are the smallest hard disk drives in the world."

The PM is indeed valid since its a IBM, but YMMV on the coupon.

Dont thread crap unless you have good evidence/proof.

They are the same item. I checked the mfr part# with Staples and the CSR confirmed they are the same item.

Regarding the PM with coupon, as I said YMMV. The new PM policy is not strickly enforced by the Staples CSRs. Just keep calling until you find a nice one who will do it for you. If not, get it from Buy.com.

<< my mistake then.

But you can still get it for $63 if you get it with PM and rebate using staples.
>>

Right.

😕

A month ago, I ordered IBM 340MB Microdrive from Staples.com thru their local store.
I thought of using the $50 Rebate.

Guess what. I received an OEM unit (not retail pack). It was not the one with the Rebate is available.
I returned it.

If you are ordering Online. Wait till it arrives to verify it.
It may not be their in the local store.
Good luck !

Seems like a pretty hot deal. Considering I just bought a 256PNY compact flash card for 79.9 plus7dollars tax. This is only for 73.95 shipped. And its 320mb.
I might get one for backup.
