3400+ bottleneck

hey, i have a athon 64 3400+ with 1mb L2catch, i also have 1gb of pc2700 ram. Is my ram causing a bottleneck? IF it is, any suggestions on which ram to buy would be helpfull, i have a chaintech vnf3-250 mobo. Thanks

Your ram really isn't that much of a bottleneck. A64's aren't starved for bandwidth like the P4. You would see some performance increase, but personally I don't think it'd be worth the money or the effort.
 
PDP Patriot is good stuff, you can get it on newegg for about $170-180 for 1 GB (2x512). It's pc3200 and has a latency of 2-3-2-5, which is pretty good for the price range.
 
You will notice a difference, as it will run much better at 1:1. When I lower my memory divider I can see a pretty significant performance decrease. I use the antiquated 3dmark01 to measure system performance.

3dmark 2001 will not give you much above 20k, use 03 at least.

03 doesn't tell you how fast your whole system is. Like 05, it only measures the performance of your video card. I score about 21k in 01.

I have not noticed this at all. I've noticed maybe 2-3% at most and considering the cost of another gig of ram I wouldn't waste my money.
