investment in a more expensive guitar??!?!?!?
what the hell? i said this was for a beginner...see if you
really enjoy playing, then move on to a better guitar. no
sense in piling dough for a serious instrument when you got
no willingness to continue. $30 is a better investment.
cheaper than 1 lesson. plus, if you give it away to someone,
no biggy, and if sell it, probably can sell it for more...

and if you're a beginner, the sound ain't gonna be so bad
that it'll turn you off to playing. if you like it, you like it.
i totally disagree with all these "9 year" guitar veterans.
and yes there is a 45 day return policy too!

$30 is nuttin. it's like a free invitation to try it out.

I agree atomicdude. $25 is nothing as far as a guitar investment goes. If you're interested in learning theory, notes on the guitar, or chord fingerings, this should provide a playable model.

However, if you do decide to stick with guitar, I recommend you buy a decent guitar no more than a few months from now. The longer you stick with the Lauren, the more likely it'll affect your technique. In other words, if you play this one for a year then buy a Taylor, it's going to feel like an entirely different instrument and you'll have to to in some respects relearn the guitar.

Mine just arrived today. It is a bit on the small side (I'm 6'2, so have pretty big hands) but not that bad. It seems to be of decent quality and sounds decent. I am no music or guitar expert so I am giving a very novice opinion of it. For $30 shipped I still think it's a great deal for an absolute beginner. Don't remember how much detail it gave on the website, but the box it comes in is a retail box. It's a 'Lauren Student Guitar' with 'LA34 34" Steel String' as the model.

yellowperil - I second your recommendation of Seagull guitars. My fiancee gave me a Seagull S6 Maple CW SW for my last birthday. It's an awesome guitar, especially considering how much it cost her. It sounded better than most of the $2000 acoustics at the shop :) Solid tops are the only way to go if you want a guitar that will sound good for the rest of your life (if you take proper care of it).

Electric Guitar by The Talking Heads is a great song. The best part is the use of a Tuba to carry the rythm. Awesome...

If you want a toy, download an organ program for your keyboard <or watch Buckaroo Bonzai across the eighth dimension>. If you want a real musical instrument, go to a pawn shop if you know what you're doing (but you already knew that).

Otherwise, spend-a-buck and go to a real music store, where they teach, rent the equipment and learn to play.

:frown: Man, I gotta lose this attitude :frown:

In Baltimore, MD, you can buy a decent guitar fer 'bout $150 @ a pawn shop, less if you know what yer doin'. Just don't want anybody to feel like they're incompetent cause they can't play a song in tune.
