335i Meet Tuners

My friend just got delivery of his 335i Coupe last week... $54k out the door! I haven't seen it yet, but I'm sure it's pretty friggin' nice...

nice very wide power curve. it does cost alot but apparently it's not just engine, supposedly comes with bigger brakes and better suspension. plus free maintenance.

Yeah, I wouldn't mind a new 335i sedan myself:

6-Speed MT
Alpine White
Black Leather w/ Aluminum Trim
Sport Package
Premium Package
Heated Front Seats

(NO Auto tranny, NO iDrive/NAV, and NO active steering!!!)

Price as Configured: $43,945

why, that's almost reasonable.

so it's pushing about 350 horse?

From all the ravings I've been hearing about the car, I somewhat expected more.

So the new M3 will have a V8, right, can we expect 400+ horse from that?

I'd take my 45k elsewhere, but I wouldn't kick a 335i out of the garage. If I had a garage.

350 at the wheels homie

Dynos on stock cars put it at about 335-340 at the crank. BMW was pretty conservative with their released specs for this car. It can keep up with the E46 M3 pretty well. New M3 will prob have 420HP min.

you can mod turbo cars pretty easy cause you can adjust boost, adjust timing and gain some nice power with just an exhaust

Ya, I think the stock car only runs 5psi boost so there's plenty of room to crank up the boost. But you do make the power delivery more "peaky" by running lots of boost.

I still think the E92 M3 will own the 335i. It's getting the old M5 engine (a V8), which is pretty much a horse stable.

I would still wait to get one, first year bmw engine.

I'd wait until one of the more established tuners start releasing their kits, Shiv gets laughed at in hardcore Evo forums or so I heard.

Never the less, one hell of a engine for tuners!

Ok, that makes more sense. I thought dynos used the spin down to estimate drivetrain losses and would give you an "at the crank" number.

So you get more power, that might keep you up with the 420+hp of the M3, but then you have to spend cash on the Handling, LSD, steering rack, brakes, track width, etc.

I think it's great that you can get big power from it, but people calling this an M3 killer are talking out of their exit hole.

Damn that's impressive from a tune/CBE. Seeing that definitely makes the car look nicer 😛

Hmm....too bad I already have one money pit of a car, I don't need a second.

😕 Why wouldn't it own the 335i? The M3 will come with more power and better suspension geometry.

They might base the v8 off of the s62. I'd rather see them make an all new engine though.
