333 MHz Memory Problem

Hello everybody!
My computer configuration:

DELL Inspiron 600m
1.8 GHz, FSB 400 MHz
512 (2x256) MB DRR RAM, 333 MHz (PC 2700)
Win XP, BIOS A13

Today, I bought a new 1 GB DDR module, 333 MHz... but after installing the new memory,
together 1024 + 256 = 1280 MB...
BIOS, SiSoftware Sandra and others indicate that my memory is running at 266 MHz.

As far as I remember, my previous memory was running at 333 MHz, and Sandra proves that
the motherboard is capable of running memory speeds of 2x166 = 333 MHz.

I tried reinstalling the original memory modules but it won't change back... damn!
I tried updating my BIOS A13 to A17 but it didn't help at all!

I wonder if there is a way to configure BIOS back to 333 MHz again!
Thank you for your replies!

The bad news is that its not likely you'll have any control over memory settings with a Dell ... they tend to lock you out of any performance-related areas.

You can try clearing the CMOS which will reset everything to defaults & should take care of the original memory not working ... instructions to do this should be available on Dells website.

Have you tried the new memory on its own?

Also, I have had less luck than I should have whenever I filled ALL the spare slots with RAM. Might be worth getting another stick of 512 or 1024 if your new one shows up as pc2700
