OK, so heres the deal...2 places 2 drives.

Best Buy has the BusLink drive for $129.99 - $20MIR - $10 IR Link

CompUSA has the Pacific Digital for same. Link

Does anyone what kind of drives are in the boxes?? How to tell which is which, like last weeks Cendyne info??

not to thread crap, but you can get the lite-on 32x burner at newegg linky for $95 + 8 shipping. few dollars more, but it saves the hassel of waiting for MIR's. good find though.

not intentionally crapping your thread either, but i'd have to agree with GiGoLo on this one. 95+8 shipping +tax (if you are charged at all) is worth having a rebateless cdr. Not to mention saving you the hassle of figuring out what drive you actually got from BusLink and Pacific Digital

Chuck2,
Can you tell us what the serial number on the box is? If there's a way we can tell that it's a Lite-On drive before opening it that would be great.

buslink = liteon = kicks ass! i wasn't a believer until i tried them out--my next rig is going to have a liteon DVD drive and a liteon CD-RW.

I just got me a TDK 32/10/40 and it's slower than an old man in the freeway.
My older Sony 24/10/40 blows this TDK away.
Guess i'll return it and get me a Lite-on "branded" drive.

thanks for the post.

If anyone has gotten a Buslink drive and it wasn't Lite-On, please post here. Thanks.

I want to ask about 16x Lite-On drives. Are they every bit as good as their 24x and 32x drives? I'm getting one for a friend who's only gonna burn at 16x max anyway, and you can get a 16x Lite-On for really cheap. I just want to make sure they're not duds.

I'm also looking at getting a CDRW/DVD combo drive for my BookPC. What do you guys think of the LG brand 12x8x8x32 with buffer underrun protection? $112 shipped online for the retail box... and I think it comes with EZCD and Power DVD 4.

i havent look up prices for dvd/cd-rw combos but that sounds like a nice price to me, if anyone knows a higher speed cd-rw/dvd combo drive for same price or lower i'd really like to know!

I got the Buslink last night for my b-day.

It's a lite-on.

It's the best thing since sliced bread.

Regardless of the media I put in, which is mostly crappy to begin with, I burn at 32X.

mmm....lite-on.
