32x CDRW and Sound card problem Windows 2000

hey guys, please help me out. I have the cendyne 32x12x48 CDRW (Mitsumi) as a slave and HP9100i as the master (on different IDE cables). The 32x CDRW is connected on the same IDE as the hard drive. The problem is, when I start the PC, the logon music in Win2k is so screwed up, and the CPU usage is like 45-55% always, even when no other program is running. Winamp is not working properly, and the freaking PC reboots automatically (even though I have set it not to, in the recover console option) when I try to watch a mpeg file. I have had the same problem with another 32x12x48 drive (cyberdrive), BUT, when I unplug the power supply to the CDRW, then everything is alright....I even tried plugging in the sound card in different PCI slots, but still the same problem. Celeron 900, Tyan s1854, 512 MB RAM, Win 2k Professional, Aureal Vortex sound card...any ideas???
