Yeah, that's the thought. It says on the rebate form it cannot be combined with any other offers. So, you're taking a $9 gamble to make $16.

Just pulled the trigger, $119 charged to my credit card! I had $20 in my paypal. 🙂
What will I use 320gb, 80gb, and 20gb for now? LOL

I need a new drive for my ReplayTV (it doesn't like the 16MB cache 250GB Maxtor that is in it right now)... unfortunately, this is a SATA drive and the PATA version they offer doesn't work with the coupon and has no rebate, unless I'm missing something? Is there another similiar deal anywhere for a 250+GB PATA drive with an 8 MB cache?

Thanks

Thanks

you can use an adapter SATA>IDE but you will loose performance

edit: ordered 🙂

I still can't order more than one with a coupon. Even when I try doing seperate orders, or ordering without an account, it locks me out. I guess the only way is to have an alternate address.

NCQ ?

Doesn't look like it is NCQ. This is an SE drive and I think you have to go to the RE to get NCQ. I guess I'll pass even though it's a great deal. Thank's OP and whoever found the rebate.

I bought this drive a few weeks ago and I'm putting together a new PC, but haven't used SATA before. Does anyone recommend the SecureConnect cable with this or is it not necessary. Price seems high at $16, but I'm not familiar with the drives.

Well, the pins on the drive are connected to a flimsy piece of plastic. The cable is supposed to interlock with this plastic with the pins on top. My cable was cheap, and came with the motherboard. The plastic bit on the drive broke off on mine, and wedged itself inside of the cable connector. I had to bend the pins on the drive back to the original position, and somehow make them connect with the cable. The flimsiness of the sata connector on the drive is definitly an issue, IMO, but I'm not sure if it is a $16 problem, as I am not sure how much better that cable is....
